Everything about a Pound Cake sounds heavy and loaded with Calories. My recipe for a Banana & Poppy seed “Pound Cake” has half of the Calories than a regular pound cake. No sugar and no flour! This means feeling less guilty when enjoying a slice or two! {Remember: Moderation is key!}

Instead of the same old Banana bread recipe. I decided add a touch of Poppy seeds to enhance the texture and appearance of my Banana Pound Cake. This recipe is really easy and meant to be enjoyed with an afternoon cup of  tea.

Banana & Poppy seed loaf


  • 1 Cup x Greek yogurt
  • 2 x Bananas (Overripe)
  • 3 x Large Eggs
  • 15g x Poppy Seeds
  • 10g  x Raw Peanut Butter
  • 1 tspn x Vanilla Essence
  • 1 tspn x Baking powder
  • 30g x No flavour Whey Protein powder (Optional)


  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C
  2. Grease a bread tin or silicone mold
  3. Mash the bananas until it’s a fine paste
  4. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl and then add the eggs to the banana
  5. Add baking powder, vanilla essence, peanut butter, poppy seeds and Whey (if you’re using it)
  6. Beat mixture well until smooth and pour into bread tin/silicone mold
  7. Bake for 40 minutes.

*Take out of the oven and leave to cool-down before serving.
