Inspired by the historic hand-written blending notes of Sir Alexander Walker, the John Walker & Sons Odyssey is a rare triple malt. It charts the intersecting epic journeys of the House of Walker, taking the family’s whiskies to the four corners of the world.
John Walker & Sons Odyssey is the first triple-single-malt whisky ever produced by the House of Walker. Priced at R14 000 Odyssey is an embodiment of master blender Jim Beveridge’s passionate grasping of the challenge to find and select the finest single malts amongst barrels and barrels of whiskies across Scotland. He selected the finest malts from three distilleries, that he calls his ‘hidden gems.’ Each taste of this rare triple malt unveils an astonishing blend of flavours that espouses complexity while delivering exceptional smoothness.
Stirred by Sir Alexander Walker’s passion for epic journeys the Odyssey pays tribute to the original decanter designed to ‘swing’ to the movement of the sea. The whisky is bottled and mounted to ensure that the nautically themed decanter always rests upright. When at rest, it always points at true north, paying homage to the steadfast direction shown by the vision of the House of Walker. Odyssey is a celebration of life’s great journeys entrepreneurial success.
Odyssey stands proudly amongst the rarest of whisky blends. It is a unique blend that captures the spirit of luxury and continues the House of Walker’s passion for whisky excellence through supreme craftsmanship, quality, heritage and innovation. There is absolutely no grain whisky used in this spirit, just three hand-selected single malts from three distinct distilleries. In South Africa there are only eight (8) bottles of the Odyssey available, which have been allocated to The Saxon Hotel, Norman Goodfellows and Makro.
Johnnie Walker® launched Odyssey at the Eighteen05 bar/ Piano lounge at The Saxon on the 12th of November, where exclusive guests got to taste the lavish blend.
Global malts brand ambassador Donald Colville took guests through tour-de-force of a multi-layered experience of exceptional smoothness.
